Claire Marchand
Flamenco Dancer
Claire Marchand is a featured soloist in Flamenco performances across Canada and internationally. In the 2007 2008 season she performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa in the Theatre Flamenco production “Tres Mujeres”, in Vancouver with Flamenco Rosario “Mis Hermanas”, was in Spain shooting a Flamenco documentary for Radio-Canada and toured as soloist on Flamenco Guitar Virtuoso Javier Conde’s Canadian debut tour.
Following early studies in Spanish Regional dance with Carmen Cano de Infante, Marchand studied with Flamenco choreographer Claudia Carolina, founder of Theatre Flamenco. She went on to study yearly in Spain with such Maestros as El Güito, Manolete, La Cíntia, Belén Maya, the singer Talegón de Córdoba and many others.

Spanish Regional Dance
Born in the Southern Spanish city of Córdoba, Carmen Infante began dancing at the age of twelve with the “Grupo de Coros y Danzas de Córdoba.” The group toured Spain learning dances from different regions, which they performed regularly across Spain, France and North Africa, as the “living archives” of Spanish Folkloric dance & music. After immigrating to Canada in 1967, Infante founded "Sol de España, the Spanish Folk Dancers of Winnipeg", which she tours to festivals in Canada and the U.S.A. and to competitions in Spain.
Jim Shewchuk
Flamenco Guitarist
Jim Shewchuk began playing Flamenco guitar in 1984. His style shows a reverence for the early masters of Flamenco guitar such as Sabicas. He is known for his pure Flamenco sound and impeccable right-hand technique.
